Laptop charger burnt out??

    Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for my problem...
I have a Dell laptop that i bought late 2007.
Recently the charger has been getting very warm while in use, and today, it just stopped working all together.
I thought it might be a faulty wire in it and tried that ole trick of bending the wire at various points along to try and see if it sprang back into action..( ahs always worked on my dodgy phone chargers!) but no luck.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what I can do to remedy this predicament in the next few days....
The main issue is that i'm heading off traveling on sunday and need to transfer my carefully collected music to mp3 player before i go!!!

So is there anywhere i could buy a charger like this, or have it repaired, or would I even be able to pop the hard drive into another laptop to access it? ( I know next to nothing about the technicalities...)

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Oh I should also say I tried another new dell charger on it, doesnt fit!
