    Just a quick one.

    I know it's possible to register as Company X, trading as Y.

    However suppose Company X wants to have two (or more) totally seperate operations, Y and Z.

    So, can I register as;
    Company X, trading as Y and Z,
    or do I have to register;
    Company X1 trading as Y AND Company X2 trading as Z.

    Hope that's clear what I'm asking!

    Yeah, you can register multiple trading names if you can demonstrate that the names relate to your business (as far as I know)

    Can you trade as one name, CRO reg'd and .ie etc. And have lots of other domain names, that when clicked by a potential customer will link to your main site?

    Its like having lots of similar online businesses but one website.

    Any one ever do this?

    Yes I'm pretty sure you can. I've seen accountancy or insurance companies do this (I remember I tried to reg generic .ie domains for a client that were already taken by another well known company - I cant remember the names now though!

    Absolutely you can. If you want to register lots of .ie domains then you have to prove your claim on the domain name though. In my experience, the easiest way to do this is by registering the RBN with the CRO.

    You can also try and prove to the IEDR (people who regulate the .ie domain names) that you have a right to the domain name without registering an RBN - but I have found them a complete pain in the hole to deal with on a number of occasions without an RBN number to give them.
