Information for a college assignment

Hi
I am doing a Fetac course and I have to write a report on how important it is for up and coming bands to think about their financial future and protect the legal status of their work.
Where I could hunt down this info?

Basically I'm looking for info along the lines of advice to young bands planning for their finances, taxes and copyrighting their original work. Also promotion & marketing and paying yourself. Artist Tax Exemption.
Getting a manager yes or no?
Those are the main points I have to cover. I know nothing about any of this really. I'm supposed to interview a band and ask them about it but I'm running out of time.
Any help at all would be great.

Why not go through the entertainment section of a local newspaper and contact some of the bands that are listed and ask them the questions directly? They shouldn't be too full of themselves to answer you.

This book will answer a lot of your questions. It's €19 for a digital (pdf) download and I think there may be a few excerpts from chapters on the net.

Chock full of the legal, copyright and business side of things.
