Trying to get a hold of Registrar and beginning to panic

    Hi all

Myself and himself are living abroad and getting married at home next year June. We wanted to have a civil ceremony at our venue, nothing too fancy.

I first contacted them in December of last year by phone, directly after we had booked the wedding, and was told that I would be sent details via email. I heard absolutely nothing.

I tried phoning them again three weeks ago, no answer. They state on the HSE website their opening hours but this doesn't concurr with their automated message. I tried again according to the message two weeks ago, still no answer and so on until this week. I even tried calling the Community Welfare Officer on the off chance that they might be able to help but no luck.

I can only call on one day per week because they only have one late opening and we work during the day. I'm really beginning to panic now....

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

That has to be very frustrating especially since your not in the country! :( Do you have any family here? Could they ring for you on your behalf??

Have you only been looking to speak with the same person, they may not work there anymore. Maybe try just getting in contact with the office and take it from there? Sorry I can't be more help...

Hey there, you may have been exaction that civiculties due to the 'work to rule' action that civil servants were participating in.

what office are you contacting? there are loads, you can contact any of them to get the info, not just the one nearest to your venue.

I found the staff in Joyce house, Lombard street very helpful. I have a couple of email addresses for staff there which I have PM'd you. I also have a copy of the postal application you need to make as you are applying from outside the state. This is from Jan 09, so may have changed now, but if you want it I can send it to you.

    Hi guys

It's Cork so I don't know if Joyce House will help. I'll give it a try though.

I phoned our venue and they've been very helpful, I'll be giving them a glowing recommendation here someday soon.

They're going to send all the documentation that is needed on their side of things, but they have also let me know that they have had difficulties with other ceremonies recently because of the work to rule last week.

Good thing I phoned them actually, because I'd forgotten the date :)

Glad to hear they are being helpful, but just so you know sending 'all' the documentation for you requires them filling in about 2 pages on a form, with most likely exactly the same details as any other weddings they have had and putting a stamp on it and sending it. Its really no work for them at all.
