N.I tax issue

    Hi there.

Hopefully someone with a bit of accountacy or tax knowledge can help me out here.
I'm originally from Co Derry, but I live down here now permenantly (house owner etc) but am employed by a company in the North as their sales area manager for the 26 counties. (so my area is republic of Ireland)
Obviously my salary is taxed up North, I pay National Insurance also in the North through the PAYE method.
I got married down here in June last year, and as we are expecting our first child thios year, we went to enquire about tax credits towards our mortgage relief etc. Also the wife will be needing maternity leave when the baby comes along, so were anxious to ensure my tax payments in the north dont hinder this.
We were told that there is no details of my earnings down here etc, and I would need to get my employers to get me some details on what Im earning etc etc.

Also, as Im a full time resident in Rep of Ireland, should I still be paying full taxation in the north as I do not reside there, so amnot avaiing of their free health care police ambulance and all the other things our income tax contributes to?

One last question. The company I work for tax me on my salary, and it shows up on my wage slip gross earnings etc. Then in my Bank statements it hows clearly who payment was made by. So lets say for arguments sake it says 4000 credit by company x,
however when I get my commision (paid seperately according to sales figures)
i get a figure of euros, then it says minus 25 (i presume this is 25%) now presumably this is for tax purposes, but how come I only pay 20% on my salary for tax?
Also when my commision is lodged in my bank account, it shows that the payment came from "the DIRECTORS of x" so it looks like two different companies.

I am also not entitled (so I am told by my employers) to lunch alowances coffe etc, but I have been told by numerous folk that I should be receiving a payment as I do not work full time in an office, and my work requires me to be away from home a lot)

Is there someone up to no good? Am I being hoodwinked into believing Im being taxed on earnings that are just being syphoned off?

Will/Can I claim tax back from UK taxation office as i am a permenant resident in Ireland as opposed to the North?

Tax and me dont get on, I dont understand it! So any pointers in the right direction (who to speak to etc etc) much appreciated!

Also, can any of this be done without my companies knowledge (as in if their is an enquiry) as obviously i dont want to lose my job!

As an Irish resident you are liable to Irish tax on your worldwide income (I assume you are Irish domiciled).
However, you may be entitled to trans border relief.
This is a complex situation and you should get professional advice.
If you need help you can PM me

You need to ask the UK company how they are taxing your commission - they are the ones who know what they are doing. Ask the payroll department to explain it to you.
