Why would you want a new one (I've seen them around, they are BIG money), why not buy a year old one on Adverts.ie for less than half the price?

Cheers gtg60. I have a freesat from sky card. Was thinking of getting one of these boxes to view CH4 HD etc.

Yeah, that's exactly what I used to do, one Sky HD for my sub and one Sky HD box for my FTV card, I've moved on now to an integrated system but it's a good place to start!

I suspect you will pay £200 - £300 for a new one from the UK, plus shipping. As suggested above it's a lot cheaper to pick one up 2nd hand locally or on eBay.

Or get another receiver entirley, such as a DM800 or many other cheaper one. These will read the cards no problems and you can completely customise your EPG to include all the channel that Sky keep on "Other Channesl", you can record them too, unlike the Sky HD box.

But does the DM800 update the card ?

Update? As in entitlements? Yes, absolutley. I have been using DM800(s) for a long time, there is many softcams (on their own or combination) that will update entitlements (there is even a way to stop entitlements, so if your card was entitled up to, say, June 2010, you could, in theroy, cancel the package, and tell the softcam to reject any entitlement updates (that Sky would send to cancel the card). You would then have the channels viewable until the entitlement date is reached.
