Following loosing my job I have been on illness benefit. I have been called for a medical. Word on the street is everyone is being removed from illness benefit. My doctor does not see me fit for work or would not have me on certs every week. If I am removed from illness benefit can I claim JSA? Does anyone know if my stamps are retained from when I was in employment ? Does anyone know how straight forward the process is? I have had a nightmare with my local office so I really dont want to have to go into another lengthy waiting period.

I wouldn't always believe the "word on the street".

Your stamps aren't retained technically - it will depend on how many contributions you paid in 2008. See the FAQ thread regarding the qualifying conditions.

You can appeal a decision if you are found capable, and can claim JSA/JSB in the meantime.
