Rent a garage?

Is there any facility in the country where customers can rent the use of a car lift (along with specialist tools)? It strikes me that it could make a valuable addition to a large motor factors/halfords type jobbie. I would happily pay €20 an hour or €100 a day for the use of a lift, and a few more euros for access to tools. Here's an idea of what I have in mind.

    Insurance/liability issues or what?

I'd say the biggest drawback is insurance and public liability costs.

its a good idea but i would imagine insurance is the issue.

I was working on the car at the weekend would have preferred a good lift to put the car on as wasnt much fun wiggling around underneath it while its on stands. I would have happily have paid some money to put it on a lift and would have had me get the job done quicker. But iin fairness the stands were fine for what i was doing, just not very comfy.

I remember there was a episode on 5th Gear that featured something like this.

He drove in to a warehouse that had around 10 lifts, paid by the hour, and you can rent all the specialty tools from a 'geezer' behind the counter.

Im sure you must sign a disclaimer somewhere before you step under your car

If someone offered such a service the lift would probably be idle most of the week, than there would be huge demand on a Saturday. I reckon they'd charge a bit more than €100/day too to be honest. Also factor in the cost of the parts and the lift rental and your not far off what a garage would charge to do the job in many cases.

Why would you need to have a car on a lift for a full day anyway.

F all demand for this really I would think.

    ...would love one.

If I won the lotto I'd have one, no two in a massive garage instead of a car wash machine on the drive.

Often thought about this. I reckon loads of people would be screwed due to underestimating the duration of the job.

I spent days trying to replace the busshings on my cruiser and days again swapping out shocker bushings when I thought I would have it done in hours.
