Deserves a lot of credit for getting Bayern this far. Apart from his failure with the Dutch national team, I think he's been one of best and most consistent managers of the last two decades. (he even scorned my beloved Newky on away goals with AZ Alkmaar in the 2007 Uefa Cup :()

Also, if I were a Man Utd fan, I'd much prefer to have him succeed Ferguson than Mourinho.

Prefer or rate better? I will hazard a guess that van Gaal has a much better CV, certainly in club football.

Before Guardiola's new Barca team, his Ajax team from about 93-96 was perhaps the best side I've ever seen, right up there with Wenger's 'Invincibles'.

I think Hiddink is better at getting performances out of players especially when dealing with lesser one's. If you compare him to Van Gaal you will see that Van Gaal has mostly always had real quality were he found success.

He won AZ Alkmaar's first ever Dutch league (edit: actually their second according to wiki) quite recently don't forget. And at Man Utd they wouldn't be dealing with 'lesser' players.

I said "mostly" and not entirely which I believe is accurate. As regards United he aint the manager and I dont think he ever will be in the future. The Special one seems a certainty though I aint mad on that idea. United possess lesser players aswell as quality.

I heard a rumour that Fergie wants Blanc, would seem like a great choice to me!

Van Gaal's 'win' percentages at any of the clubs/teams he has managed have never dipped below 53%, peaking with over 68% with Ajax from 1991-97.

    Impressive stuff, in fairness!

I've always said Blanc will be Fergies's successor at OT

Tell that to the Barca fans and players who hated him with a passion.

I would say van Gaal is fairly happy in Munich right now in fairness... don't think he'll be making moves to Old Trafford just yet...

Mourinho would be ruthless and make the players be engaged and wake up at waht they can achieve but his natural systematic tactics might not go down well with the old heads but I personally would'nt mind since United do need a better tactician if the players are limited.
