    Hi all,
I have been called for the Science PGCE interview at Swansea Met University next week.
    Im already feeling very nervous!!
Can anyone shed any light on what I should expect in the interview?
Also it would be great to hear from anyone who has attended Swansea.

    Thanks a mill, k24. ;)

I did the PGCE in ICT in Swansea. The format of the interview will depend on the department, each approach it in a different way. For instance, my interview was a very informal chat. I also had to demonstrate how I would teach a given topic (this was outlined in the letter regarding the interview).

I know the Geography department ran day long grueling interviews. If I were you I would try and get in touch with the department that will interview you and get some tips. They are very good over there and will help you out at every stage (not like h dip here where they try and catch you out).

Swansea is brilliant, had a great year over there. Night life is first rate. Lots of Irish on the course (about 30 when I was over there, also doing teaching). Lots to do around, Cardiff 30 mins on the motorway too. Get a season ticket to the Ospreys while you are there.

    Hey Wingnut,
    I appreciate your response, alot!!

The Science course I applied to is for the age 11-16. But I have already checked with the teaching council and my degree qualifies me to teach Biology and Agricultural Science.
Considering the course is aimed at the 11-16 age, should I be concerned about the TC and its recognition at home?!

Did you have any trouble receiving the teaching bursary? I am hoping that I wont have much trouble in obtaining it..

Are you teaching at home now, how were the Irish principals in recognising the qualification?
Once again, thanks a million. :)

    Ok:

    1. Mine was 11-19 so that wasn't an issue for me age wise. Its a catch 22 with the TC because they will probably tell you they can only check out if the degree qualifies AFTER you have done it. You might want to check with them. Though if they recognize it for teaching you will not have problem.

    2. My primary degree was history and on the autoquals list. When they recognized my PGCE (in ICT) I was registered to teach History. Had the do the H&S exam (which is trés easy).

    3. Had no trouble getting the bursary. Got an extra grant for a shortage subject too.

    4. Teaching a home now for the last three years. Got the job before I was registered with the TC. Progressive schools will count experience and qualifications abroad as a strength.

Hey there, I have my interview at Swansea in two weeks. I was wondering how your interview went and if you could shed any light on what it entails? Presentation, group discussions etc etc?

    Thanks
