Hi, I got a call from the guide clinic in james street hospital saying they had a previous partner of mine in with them and he tested positive for chlamydia and left my name an number with them to get in touch beause he couldnt face up to it!

Im worried sick but am thinking that this might be a wind up because I never heard of this happening before, an anybody clear it up for me?

    Thanks

Yes they do phone people up.
Did you ring back the number to make sure it was the clinic?
I would suggest you go to your dr asap, get tested if you do have it then the sooner it's treated the better and thankfully it is one of the STI which can be cured.

Ring the number back on a private number and make sure that it is a clinc ringing you, because i say theres a good chance its one of your mates winding you up.

We had a talk from them and they said they do call people up so I'd say its not a wind up.

A friend of mine is a nurse there. I know they ask people about their previous partners and can contact them. If you are concerned that it is a windup I would look up the number in the phonebook and contact them on that.

To be honest I doubt it is a wind up.

Take this as an opportunity to go and get yourself tested for everything. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing :)

I'd do what others have already suggested and contact the STI clinic.

If you do have something well at least you know about it now and can get it fixed up.

    Best of luck

You didn't get that phone call on April 1st by any chance ?

  • It definitely does happen. I'd give them a call if I were you, nothing to lose.

    http://www.guide2guide.ie/whatis.html

this came up straight away when i googled it

just ring them up and see if they have a record of ringing you

they look like they are free so you could get checked out really simply and chlamydia is supposed to be relatively easy to clear up as far as i know its just antibiotics

just give the clinic a call and find out if they really did contact you and where you need to go from there

This does happen. A mate of mine once got a call from a clinic to tell her that her ex had tuberculosis and when she tested for it she had it too. Tuberculosis is not as std but they the calling is routine.

Clamydia is not nice but the worst you can get from it is infertility. But the good news is that I know THREE girls who had it who now have babies, so put that fear out of you mind completely. Treatment is a quick dose of antibiotics.

Don't worry and don't beat yourself up about it. These things can happen to just about anyone and its a medical issue, not a moral one.
