I land in Schipol airport @ 9am, I must be back at the airport @ 12pm.

From the moment I touch the tarmac I have 3 hours.

I'm not going to hide it, all I want to do is get into the city to get high before my onward 12hour flight....

    Can it be done?

I've never been to Amsterdam before so any time saving/speed boosting tips would be greatly appreciated.

Course you could. Central station is only 15 mins away. 5-10 mins walk from there will bring you to a coffee shop. half an hour there then back to Central station and hop onto a train Schipol. I do remember the security being quite strict in Schipol so don't cut it too tight to gt through there

    Thanks bud,

I've heard conflicting reports on the time it takes to get from Schipol to Central Station, anything from 10mins to 1hour.

Even if I have a green cloud of smoke following me, I assume that customs are used to it so I shouldn't be concerned?

Are the coffee shops open at 9 in the morning?

From the flight go through Passport control and out the door to the station which in the same building as the airport. Then check when the next train to Amsterdam Central is going and go down the stairs to that platform.

15 mins or so to Central station

Off you go for your smoke

Get the train back to Airport, then go upstarts to departures area, walk past the automatic check-in machines and bag drop

You then have to produce your boarding pass to get to the Passport queue, you will have a boarding pass won't you ?. You can go to any Passport queue not just the one in your gate section (A,B,C, D etc)

Once past that you go to your gate and that is where you go through security, empty pockets, take off belt, x-ray carry-on etc.

How easy that is all doped up I don't really now

Remember, airlines have the right to refuse permission to board if they figure you will be a nuisance to others. There was a story once of a guy stinking so bad, he was kicked off his flight. So just saying, do not overdo it, do not become too much of a stoned nuisance... or you might end up spending more time in Amsterdam than you hoped to :).

Oh, and avoid the spacecakes at all costs. Foolish mistake on my part

    I don't think I'll smell QUITE that bad.... :D

Not interested in getting stoned out of my mind, a smoke in Amsterdam has been a pilgrimage I've wanted to make for a few years.

The onward flight will be more enjoyable too!

Thanks for all the helpful replies

Pearls of wisdom... sounds like you learned that lesson the hard way

Just to clarify: I did not mean you would get kicked out because of odor... it was just the one example that came to my mind. Simply make sure you can still walk straight and sort of know which pocket your passport is in :).

I might chance my arm at getting a wheelchair escort through...
You can usually spot a vacant one somewhere in the terminal, sit down with my boarding pass in my mouth and hope someone takes pity on me

    Problem solved..

one other thing the distance between gates in Schipol is quite large - I think I spent nearly 20minutes going between gates !
