Honda accord timing chain or belt?

Thanks for taking the time to read this thread. I drive a CL7 accord 2.0L petrol, ive been wondering is it a timing chain or belt? Especially as the car is reahing the 80,000 km mark.

If it is a timing chain whats the normal time frame for changing them?

Ivedone a bit of looking around the net the general consensous is that its a timing chain but ive also seen some saying its a belt so i just want to be sure.

I've a 2005 petrol Accord with 140,000km on and was wondering the same around the 120,000km mark. Spoke to our service department in Honda and they said chain.

If anything happens I'll hold them responsible

AFAIK they're a chain and doesn't need replacing.

Id be ringing Honda with the VIN to be sure if I was of two minds.

Honda Accord 1998-2003 2.0petrol(F20B6) has timing Belt
Honda Accord 2003- 2.0 petrol(K20A6)has Timing Chain;)

Honda K- and R- engines are all chains. Old D, B, F and H are belts.

I just have one more question, with a timing chain am i correct in that you never have to replace them? Or are they like a belt with recomended mileage for changing?

They have no service interval. All going well the chain should last the life of the car.

i would replace the chain sometime they can and do break it happened to me on a bmw 320d with 124k miles on it no warning just broke
