Bank of Ireland Graduate Programme

    Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone applied to the BOI graduate programme for 2010? It seemed like a very quick fire process, got an email from GradIreland saying the programme was open and the deadline was a week later.

Doesn't seem to be any talk or evidence that it even exists apart from a confirmation email I received when submitting my application!

Just wondering has anyone else applied for it? I remember someone on boards who was currently on the programme mentioned it might open up again, and it looks like it has.

Yes. I also applied. I called them after I sent my email and they confirmed that they got it. Then later got a confirm email that interviews were to be in a couple of weeks. I saw it on careerscompus. It wasnt advertised anywhere else as far as I could see. I spoke to a few from my class and none had applied.

    Is the closing date over.

I'd be very surprised if they are doing this. I am currently on a 6 month contract with them, but thats just due to having an uncle in a management role.

We all got a talk today about the cost savings, and they are hitting the pensions hard it seems. Many of the long term ppl there are well pissed off on what they heard.

Hope they are taking on ppl again, but to be honest I'd be surprised.

Yeah it is closed again. It was very strange. Was only open for about 7-10 days max.

Yeah I was a little shocked to see it open too. What area are you in if you dont mind me asking Stevecw? The programme is recruting into Operations support, IT, Capital Markets and Actuary, maybe they are looking to expand these areas.

Then again they could just be opening it up to look as if they are doing something. Who knows.

Well they kept this quiet, I didn't get any email from gradireland. How long ago was this advertised?

    Hi Guys

The reason they might not be getting back to you is due to the announcement made Friday eve last from BOI Directors. You may have seen on the news that BOI are to sell BIAM, New Ireland, ICS etc http://www.finfacts.ie/irishfinancenews/article_1019474.shtml

to be honest I'd be very surprised if they take on many graduates this time round as current staff are worried about their own jobs at present.

The programme is advertised as taking people into Cap Markets, Support, IT and Actuary. But you are right it could have an impact. I will remain skeptical until I hear confirmation that they are going ahead. However the areas that the programme covers are pretty core activities compared to the divisions earmarked for divestment, so I wouldn't be all that suprised to see it go ahead. But we will see.

ya i also applied for this.
Got the email from GradIreland on March 29th and it said the closing date was April 5th. Havent heard anything back apart from the initial email confirming receipt of my application.
I thought the whole thing seemed a little strange but sure twas worth applying for anyway.

Of course it is still on. Capital Markets is profitable and growing (pre-provision) and they need grad level guys. They would have known about the EU restructuring when they opened the applications. It was probably done in such a tight period so as to not draw unwanted attention.

Applications only closed 2 weeks ago. They (HR) are obviously going through the cv's now.

    .

Good to see that nepotism is alive and well in the Banks. Nice to know that our hard earned money is going to fund jobs for the boys and their relations.

What about rooting out the old blood which caused so much hassle - losing security documents (Niall Lennon case), over lending and all that crap.

yeah i heard that HR are reviewing CVs at the moment. Supposedly they are looking to take on people in the summer and in the autumn.

Would be great to hear back from them soon though - exams coming up and all that. i would imagine the whole process from interview stage forward will be quite quick if they are looking for people to start in the summer

Ah Mike.... were you a bit drunk last night? You certainly left your mark... you did well to get banned in 2 forums.

To the rest of the posters.... I wouldn't worry about what Mike has to say. I mean like half of boards are still trying to fiqure out if he's an ex banker or perhaps a bit crazy (or both).

    Well this is very annoying!

    Kept this very quiet!

Grad Ireland seem to be selective in thier emails!!

Id say they are only taking the cream this year though!

A tad incorrect - but don't worry - the taxpayer will continue to pick up the tab for all your errors ;)

You're a sad sad man Mike.

Anyways... Back to the topic at hand.

Has anyone heard back yet? Its been a month since I applied!

I get the feeling there wasn't a whole host of applications for them to wade through either so they would want to hurry up...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭rebel105

    nope havent heard a thing....

I know of someone who got a phone call from them today. Arranging interviews for last week of May/First week of June. He applied for Capital Markets.

Yeah I got the call yesterday aswell regarding interviews for the Capital Markets.

Considering I had another offer and one pending I asked would they be able to fast track an interview with me... no dice.

So I had to rule myself out.

Pretty inflexible to be honest considering they asked us to wait so long for any sort of reply.

    Suppose Im just another number!
