is it possible to find out the turnover or net profit of a ltd company, or the vat which a company has paid in a certain year.I need to do this as part of a school project, so all help would be very much appreciated.

Try and get your hands on the published accounts of a PUBLIC company - i.e. Kerry group - you could call into the HQ of a large company and they'll probably have brochures showing their turnover and other info. You can also do a company search for a public company and pay for their filed accounts.

Don't bother looking for private company accounts as they will most likely not show turnover.

    Good luck

As above most SME's dont publish a turnover figure.

You can get CRH's for free here. http://www.crh.ie/crhcorp/ir/rp/

The turnover is called revenue in published accounts.

    Hope this helps

Can search online for a small cost

    http://www.vision-net.ie/

I think it's €1 to search Company and another €1 to look at their accounts, go to bottom of first search on the Company and click on something like accounts (not the annual return- which gives shareholders etc)

Anyway the accounts only show balance sheet and notes , not turnover or profits, you can work out the retained profit (Net profit less tax/dividends etc) for the year by deducting the first years retained profits from the second years retained profit in the balance sheet.

Public limited companies much publish their profit & loss account (income statement) and balance sheets, as do private limited companies.

You can obtain all this information from the Companies Registration Office (CRO.IE), solocheck.ie and vision net.ie
You will have to pay for these reports.

Alternatively, you can write to a publicly limited company and ask them to post to you a copy of their annual report which will contain their profit & loss account (income statement) and balance sheets.
