GPS Charge on Iphone 3GS

    new to the whole Iphone thing

    if i download an app ( currently looking at a cycling speedometer ) does the gps charge me for using my locations etc

    if so i'll just stick to my regular bike speedo

    just thought with the great apps for this i may find something good

    but dont wanna pay everytime i go out on the bike

    nope, doesnt even come off your data, it works off satellite, no charge

    unless the app shows u a map aswell, then it will use data if the map is downloaded. most of the cycling apps use google maps so will cost. normal sat nav app doesnt

    nah, ive had a look around and anything ive seen uses google maps or similar. might be an option for an apple developer tho. mapmyride is probably best of the lot but does use data. i mainly use it to plan my route beforehand.

    something like runkeeper might be of interest to you, i have the pro version its excellent, they have a free version, and the amount of data used on a map is minuscule, if your on an iphone plan, you have absolutely nothing to worry bout, the app might only use 5mb of data in a couple of hours
