    does anyone have a list of the components in a life support machine??

    Nope, but I bet they aren't your common-or-garden components.
    All off the shelf components are restricted from use by their license in life-dependant situations and the data-sheets cover that. I seem to remember that the MIL spec of the standard 74LSxxx components started with 54LSxxx and these were approved for such devices.
    I would estimate that the same applies here.
