Is restaurant option for wedding party?

Does anyone know of a restaurant in Meath or Mayo, which would entertain the poss to host a wedding party? We don't want a typical sit down wedding day thing, not having much luck with hotels to steer them away from this (assume they want to hold out for a couple that might want that, therefore more revenue on the food for them) which is their prerogative, but leaves us with very few options. We'd need somewhere for approx 100 guests (know it would need to be somewhere that could cope with this), and bit of an area for the old dancing.

Only a consideration at the mo..know that hotels are preffered for the likes of weddings/functions for a reason..staff etc.

If anyone has any suggestions, greatly appreciated.

I don't know the areas but if you go to weddingsonline.ie and go to the supplier directory area you can search by restaurant venues & county.

have you thought of a private club, like a golf club or a football club, galic club etc. They usually have large rooms with area for dancing & would have facilities to cater to large numbers....we are thinking of our local golf club for ours

It's been a couple of years since I've been there but Crockets on the Quay in Ballina has a nice restaurant and open area out the back that may be a smoking area but could easily be used as a dance area.

Could I ask for clarification? What is it you expect a restaurant to do with food that a hotel won't?
