    SmackDown:
At Extreme Rules: Jack Swagger will take on the Edge/Chris Jericho winner.
Swagger promo. He says he deserves to be champion, and is the best natural athlete since HBK retired. He was interrupted by John Morrison. Lots of jokes, including some about hi lisp. Morrison calls him non champion worthy. Funny back and forth. Morrison gets one up on Swagger and Jack throws temper tantrums. He gets back in ring and match starts.

Match is briefly stopped due to a cut on Swagger. Good match, which Swagger wins with the Doctor Bomb.

Later, CM Punk says that he will convert Young to Straight Edge.

Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett backstage were interrupted by Swagger. Swagger says he's sure thing. He's a world champion.

Shad Gaspard out to new music, but goes to the back. Then he comes back to the Cryme Tyme theme. Shad has shaved head. Says there is always someone in the way, and you should take what you deserve. He says it's his time. "My tyme" is his new slogan.

JTG comes out but shad kills him with clothesline.

Drew McIntyre vs. Matt Hardy is next. Drew says he isn't going to waste his time talking to the losers in the crowd. Drew wins with his finisher.

Off camera, Hardy is helped out to the back.

Punk came out next. The crowd was into him. Serena then heeled them, as did Punk. Standard mic work by Punk. Gallows talks about how shaving his head saved him. Punk tells Young that Straight Edge will help him on NXT. He said shaving his head will help. Young first agrees then refuses. SES beat him down. Rey Mysterio makes the save and went to shave Punk's head but Punk got away.

They announce Punk vs. Rey Mysterio for Extreme Rules, with Punk's hair on the line.

Teddy Long comes out and announces Rey vs. Punk in a street fight right now.

Rey won in a good match. It may have been a dark match.

Baretta and Croft came out and cut a promo. They are taking on The Hart Dynasty tonight. The Dynasty wins with a Sharpshooter.

Josh Matthews asks Dolph Ziggler backstage how it felt to put Great Khali to sleep. Ziggler answers by putting Josh to sleep.

Swagger and Edge get into it backstage. Edge says he will beat Swagger at Extreme Rules. He says it with a lisp.

Edge and Chris Jericho went to a double countout they brawled around the ring. They kept going for a while until Edge hit Jericho with the spear. Swagger came out but got speared by Edge as well.

Edge then cut a promo for the local crowd, talking about how he wanted to wrestle in Chi Town since he was a kid. That ended the show.

    NXT:
We are live on tape from Chicago, Illinois and your announcers are Michael ‘On Tuesdays, I have a backbone’ Cole and Josh On Mondays, I stand up and hold a microphone’ Mathews. Your host is Matt ‘On Fridays, I sound a lot like PWInsider.com audio’ Striker.
Matt is on the stage and he brings out the rookies and they come out based on their rankings. Matt mentions that Daniel Bryan is currently ranked in first and then Matt talks about how the winner gets a pay per view match. Matt turns his attention to the other end of the rookie spectrum.

He also mentions the man in fifth place who is also not happy. Matt reminds us that David won the battle royal last week so he got to be the guest host on Raw. Matt says that Raw was entertaining and then he asks David why he walked away from a potential tag title. David says that he was the host of Raw and he says that he could do whatever he wanted. David says that he could have tagged Cena’s wimpering hand and then he could have taken the Miz’s head off and celebrated with John Cena. Otunga says that he doesn’t work with anyone. Otunga says that he did a favor for The Miz who is a judge and he is looking for some help to win.

Matt goes to Daniel Bryan and asks him if he thinks he deserves to be in first place. Bryan says that he doesn’t know if he deserves it but wonders if the Miz deserves to be a pro. Does David Otunga deserve to be guest host on Raw? Does Michael Cole deserve to replace Jim Ross on Raw? He says that he does not deserve to be number one, but will do what it takes to win. Striker says that Bryan should have said that he deserves to be in first.

Striker goes to Tarver and he asks Michael if Daniel Bryan deserves to be in first place. He says that he does not. Tarver says that everyone on the stage is a target and he needs to get out of his way. To this point, he has followed the rules, but now he is taking his opportunity. He is a pit bull without a leash and he is the most dangerous man in NXT . . . period.

It is time to test their mental and physical abilities with weekly challenges. We see a keg behind a ‘start/finish’ line. Matt says that the keg is filled with liquid and weighs over 160 pounds. The rookie has to carry the keg around the ring.

The first rookie is the man with the bulls eye on his chest and it is Daniel Bryan. Bryan finishes in 24.9 seconds. It is time for Wade Barrett to carry the keg around the ring. His time is 14.7 seconds. Justin Gabriel is third and his time is 13.6 seconds. Heath Slater is next and finishes in 12.0 seconds. David Otunga is next and his time is 14.1 seconds. Skip Sheffield is next and his time is 12.4 seconds. Michael Tarver is next and he drops the keg a few times and he is disqualified. Darren Young is last and his time is 13.6 seconds. Your winner is Heath Slater.

Striker asks Slater how he feels to win this challenge. Slater says that he is going to blow everyone’s minds in NXT. Striker tells Heath that you never know what is going to happen. He won the Keg Carry and he gets to be in the main event . . . against Kane.

Kane gets in Slater’s face and then he ignites the pyro in the ring. Kane backs up and he smiles as only Kane can.

    We go to commercial.

We are back and did you know that Wrestlemania was a top search item on Google.

It is time for the Raw Rebound.

Matt Striker is with Skip Sheffield in the back. Matt reminds Skip that he is in sixth. Skip says that he should have won the keg carry because nobody is stronger than he is. He says that the contest was rigged. Skip says that the WWE Universe is not ready for him. Skip says that he is done being Mr. Nice Guy.

    We go to commercial.

Match Number One: Darren Young versus Daniel Bryan

They lock up and Young with a knee and forearm to the back. Young with a back elbow. Young goes to the floor and Bryan with a baseball slide and then he hits a running knee from the apron. Bryan with a near fall followed by a back slide. Bryan with another back slide. Young sends Bryan’s head into the turnbuckles. Bryan with a sunset flip for a near fall. Young and Bryan exchange near falls and then they exchange slaps to the face. Young with a rollup and he gets the three count.

    We go to commercial.

Justin Gabriel talks about being in third and he says that it can only get better for him. He says that his dad told him that once you get to the top you have to work harder to stay there.

Tarver talks about what it is like to deal with a pitbull that is unleashed. He says that is how he felt being in seventh and seeing every name ahead of him.

Match Number Two: Justin Gabriel versus Michael Tarver

They lock up and Gabriel with an arm drag. They lock up again and Tarver backs Gabriel into the corner and he connects with a knee and a hard Irish whip. Gabriel with a float over and then he connects with a kick, knee, and a series of kicks to take Tarver down. Gabriel with a cross body into the corner and then he hits a springboard cross body. Gabriel goes up top but Tarver crotches Gabriel. Tarver with a punch to the midsection and then Gabriel drops Tarver on the top rope and kicks Tarver in the head followed by the 450 splash for the three count.
    Winner: Justin Gabriel

    We go to commercial.

We go to comments from David Otunga about his ranking. He says that he was disappointed. He says that everyone knows that he should be number one. He says that the pros are threatened by him.

Barrett says that he hates second place. He is here to win this and make money.

Match Number Three: David Otunga versus Wade Barrett

Otunga with a side head lock and he works on the arm but Barrett with a forearm and head butt. Barrett with an Irish whip and knee to the back. Barrett with a surfboard in the ropes and then he sends Otunga into the ropes and hits a few forearms to the kidneys. He tries for a third but you never do that so Otunga with a forearm of his own. Otunga with an inside cradle for a near fall followed by a neck breaker for a near fall. Barrett pulls Otunga off the turnbuckles followed by the fireman’s carry slam for the three count.
    Winner: Wade Barrett

Heath Slater is getting ready in the locker room for Kane.

    We go to commercial.

We are back with a look at what happened last week when Kane took on the NXT roster.

Match Number Four: Kane versus Heath Slater

Slater avoids Kane and then he hits Kane with a couple of knees and hits a drop toe hold that sends Kane into the turnbuckles. Slater with a missile drop kick and then he hits a cross body and gets a near fall. Slater punches Kane but Kane with a big boot and then he throws Slater to the floor. Kane follows after him and hits an uppercut. Kane runs Slater into the apron and Kane punches him. Bryan losing without interference from Miz or the other rookies mentor makes him look so weak. thats the last two weeks running at least (maybe 3) that he has been made look weak.

I felt the under dog role they gave him at the start suited him, and the initial few weeks were grand (losing to Jericho, losing cause of Miz etc) but I just don't get what they are thinking at the moment. He needs to look like he can actually win a match in the WWE and they aren't going to get that across by having him lose weekly to other rookies.

If anything is being done at the moment, then it is that the Miz is being proven right in that Bryan doesn't belong in the WWE and isn't good enough (I'm not saying this is actually the case, but it is how it looks from the current booking)

i think rey will lose at extreme rules

This is a joke, 0-7? I mean seriously, I could understand it some what if you put him rock bottom of the poll. But this is just terrible booking. A clean loss to Young? They're making him look embarassingly weak.

He has to really, as its been really one sided in favor of Rey.

Agree on Bryan, I'm starting to think they're actually trying to bury the guy completely.

On a more positive note, Justin Gabriel is genuinely getting over, which is great to see. As is Wade Barrett. And David Otunga might be a menace in the ring, but he's gotten genuine heat as a result of the Cena thing.

Slater is a strange mix. Shades of a younger Christian when he's in the ring, but good lord he's a plank when he opens his mouth - and he's still doing that stupid dance. If they do keep him (and they seem determined to push the guy) I hope he's popped in a tag team until he learns to talk better.

I see future endeavours in the paths of the other three.

It's not the loss, it's how Bryan's losing. He got caught off guard in a pinning match with Young. He got eliminated from the battle royale by a reckless Heath Slater. Tarver wasn't there for him. He was injured against Barett. He's not supposed to beat Jericho or Khali just hang with them. Miz cost him the win.

There's a reason the pros are saying Bryan's number one and the ones who aren't are Miz and Michael Cole. People in general do not like Miz and and Michael Cole. It's psychology. ;)

Bryan and Otunga are the show's pet projects.

Does anyone know what this week's NXT ratings were? I first thought Otunga as GM was a play to get his wife on the show, then to have some advertising for NXT but having a twenty minute keg carrying contest threw me. ;)

TBH I think they're doing a decent-enough job pushing slater and barrett too, despite their limitations. And, whether they're pushing him or not, Justin Gabriel is getting serious reaction.

Wouldn't be a surprise if the ratings bombed for that keg segment - who would watch scripted reality TV (except us of course)? It's a shame, because the rest of the show was one of the better ones.

Not a fan of Indies or even ROH but that is just burying Danielson, I dont understand but him on top of the rankings and get him to lose every single match , could this be WWE just making a show of him and then sending him back to ROH, I dont know really but he really need a win !

Am I the only one that sees very little in Otunga, he's poor in the ring and he sounds as intimidating as Elix Skipper, he carries himself well but I see very little else. The guy will never get out of the mid-card. Gabriel is standing out most in my book, he's just so easily likable and is second behind Bryan in the ring. And whats interesting is that they completely bury Bryan's personality yet he's showing more than anybody on the show.

I hate Michael Cole on commentary:mad::mad:

Agree with the above . Gabriel is kind of like Bourne and as MF said he is likeable. Otunga just bores me but since Vince loves Big guys and he is engaged to Jen Hudson.

I think his commentary with Matthews is very good on NXT. I love him working the internet with his pot shots at Danielson.

Edge/Jericho and Morrison/Swagger are two really good matches, the two blood stoppages in the Swagger match annoyed the hell out of me though. I really don't care for Shad as a heel.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 351 ✭✭Tribesmen7

Ugh, are the jokes about Swaggers lisp really necessary? Morrisson continues to bore the life out of me on the mic. Good match though and great to see our World Champion get the clean win.

Also great interaction backstage between Jericho and Swagger. Jericho is so entertaining, best thing in the WWE right now.

Caylen Croft and Trent Barreta against the Hart Dynasty was a nice little match up too.

I think Morrison got his best crowd reaction this week from his promo on Swagger

Rey saving Black Troll Cena from a hair cut :p even though he needs it

Great to see smackdown right back where it was last year.

Ziggler getting a nice bit of an increase in profile.
    PUNK being a star.
Rey involved in a reat feud.
A new world champion getting a chance to raise his profile.
    Jericho being jericho.

And best of all lots of new people getting mic time and competitive matches.
Drew winning against Hardy was done in a way that made matt look good.
The dudebusters got some mic time which helped them out even though they were going to lose.
Cryme tyme splitting is also overdue and could be good for both guys.
