Hi I wonder has anybody ever had the experience of a leaking pipe literally soaking their carpet and what they did about it.

We got a leak in our pipes and it went unnoticed for like two days, I wonder is there any way to disinfect the carpet and dry it out without having to pull the whole thing up and get a new one.

Hire a carpet cleaning machine and use the extraction unit to remove as much water as possible. Don't lift the carpeting otherwise it may shrink and not stretch back. After it dries sufficiently replace the underlay ( specially if hairfelt) refit and clean and deodourize.
