I don't know if they allow recommendations of specific therapists on here. You could try asking your GP who they would recommend. They might know one who is good.

I was hoping someone could private message me, I'd rather not fork out €50 on teh GP just for a recommendation:rolleyes: thanks though

If you pay the 50 to your GP they can refer you to a CBT as a public patient so you won't have to pay for the therapy... It would work out way cheaper than paying for several sessions of CBT

Have a read of the psychology forum (-> Science -> Psychology). More info about finding a CBT therapist with the appropriate qualifications, even if they can't recommend directly.

    Gp may not refer.
Patient may think he/she needs CBT and Doc may not.
Doc would loose credabilty within Psychiatric field /colleagues, referring patients who diagnoised their own potenial needs.
    Doc might recommend a counsellor?.
Best CBT counsellors are thoes with Psych background.
Ring St Patricks Hospital and ask if they have any recommendations.

Well apart from anything else last I heard the public waiting list for CBT was outrageously shocking - as in measured in years as opposed to weeks. But don't take my word for it, check for yourself.

Yeah, the waiting list is really terrible.

OP, I think going to your GP is your best bet tbh. I know you don't wanna spend 50 euro, but I found my GP a great help in the beginning when I wasn't sure what exactly I needed. It'd be good for you to have a chat with him/her.

Also, sometimes things can move quicker with a GP referral.
