A company that promotes violence against women, horrible weapons being used on the competition etc. slated the UFC saying their brand of violence isn't suitable for TV?

    The mind boggles!

Didn't pro wrestling popularise the idea of 2 men "Fighting" in a cage?

Hey, who is this guy Oliver Copp and what is his connection with WWE?

Oh Vinny Mac, for an organisation you are not concerned about, lol. Germany may bow to his pressure though as they ban just about everything.

WWE does promote more violence though so I don't know what he is on about. The last bit of WWE I have seen was Triple H with a sledge hammer.

A company that promotes violence against women

WWE has been PG for the last couple of years so what you're referring to WWF/E 10 years ago.

He's Vince McMahon, he's a great business man. He's looking out for the profits of his Corporation.

And before anyone attacks me for sticking up for the man, I don't even like him either. The man is evil. But in saying that, a unbelievable businessman.

I highly doubt Vince McMahon is trying to ban MMA or the UFC from any countries.

It would not surprise me though if the WWE is putting pressure on large foreign arenas and TV stations, telling them it's us or them.

One of the main reasons Sky don't have UFC is because they don't want to ruin their working relationship with WWE.

He did the German commentary for WWF years ago, brought WWE magazine to German, helped them promote German shows and get television clearences. He has also done similar duties for UFC. He presents a MMA radio show on F4Wonline and is known as a all round nice guy going by reports.

I disagree on that WWE's domestic PPV business has been tanking for years up until recently bar Wrestlemania. While UFC keeps on running and running.

It is worth noting that WWE helped to kick UFC off Sky in 2002.

    possibly related (from 19th March)

The TV portal TVmatrix reports today that the television committee has taken the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for Commercial Broadcasting (BLM) on Thursday the decision to the authorization to broadcast the UFC formats "The Ultimate Fighter," UFC Unleashed "and" UFC Fight Night "in repeal DSF again. From now on must have the DSF, which has its headquarters in Munich to take all items for the UFC from the program.

The reasons for the decision of the television committee called the BLM that the "massiveness of the violence displayed unacceptable" and that "standing taboos" like hitting a prone opponent on the ground in contradiction with the vision of a legally supported the Bayerische Rundfunk Constitution would.

    UFC's response

Statement of Marshall Zelaznik, Managing Director of International Development, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), to today's decision by the Television Committee of the Bavarian State Media Institute (BLM)

"We are monitoring these developments, together with our partner DSF for several weeks. Although we are not surprised that the BLM-Television Advisory Board has taken this decision, we consider it unusual that a decision has been taken on such a scale without consultation with interested parties - especially since we were about to prepare for such an appointment.

Equally unusual is that the BLM has approved the broadcast of DSF UFC broadcasts in the past two times and has changed nothing in the broadcast content. In addition, an examination of the Commission for Youth, the
State Media Authorities (KJM) also showed that the broadcast of UFC broadcasts after 23 clock is legally permissible.

The practice is fighting UFC Sports Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a highly regulated sport that is operated in many countries of skilled athletes struggle as a competition. UFC broadcasts are used in over 130 countries and territories on television, reaching nearly 500 million households worldwide and have been constructed independently of societies and cultures, a fan base.

The rationale for the decision in the cited criticism that is the fact that should be taken to one lying on the ground combatants is glorify violence, untrue. You have to look at the sport as a whole: it is here a variant of the ground fighting, which is used for most Olympic sports such as judo or wrestling. Basically, the BLM has not taken the time to learn the sport before it has rendered the decision. "

Yeah it is directly related, Bavaria is very, very conservative part of Germany. Perfect audience for WWEs whispers. An ironic note is that they banned WWF from television in 1995.
