I've been waiting for it for ages. It was supposed to be released late 2009 but there were disputes over what tracks would make the album. Expected in September now, I can't wait. Great how they won't just throw out any half assed album like a lot of bands.

Eh, yeah...I do anyway. I think due to Julian Casablancas solo album, everything was put back a bit.

Casanblancas is recording vocals separately to the rest of the band and won't be joining them in the studio by all accounts.

I've lost interested after their third album, pity the first four songs on it were great and then it slipped.

Room on Fire was vastly under rated and for me *Shock horror* i like it better then Is this it.

To be fair they've had 2 amazing albums, great the whole way through and a third that was still above average. It's rare enough to find a band with one album that you like all the songs off imho.

i agree wouldn't knock the first two albums. They were trying to move away from the sound of the first two records but they were stuck in the middle i felt.
well for me I taught every song from every Arctic monkeys album was great:) but i probably be the only one.

Yeah hopefully they'll either get back to basics on the new one or find a new sound that's just as good. Kinda hope there isn't too much influence from the sound of Casablancas solo album, it was good but don't know if it would suit the band.

i don't mind them sounding the same but the songs have to be strong.I didn't like his solo album but i think The strokes need a record that will at least reach the heights of their first two albums and if they do they be back on track.

Albert Hammond Jnr released his frst solo reord not too long after the last Strokes effort and i thought Hammond's album was much superior!

Hammond tried to have more input in the writing stakes but aparently Casablancas (was) a bit of a control freak, wanted his songs to be The Strokes and nobody elses (although i've recently read he's having the band record without him)

I love In Transit from Hammond's 1st album, it was recorded by The Strokes but Casablancas didn't want it ending up on an album.

Here it is (The Strokes version

loved this song sadly it would have been an improvement if added on the third record. Didn't the band help write the 3rd record?
