Hi all, my employers that i've been with over 10 years have changed their company name and VAT reg, so when i claimed tax in January, i was told by tax office i'm only on record as being employed where i am now since 2009? I'm wondering would this ever affect my stamps, or redundancy if it ever came about?

You would be best off telling the tax office that its the exact same company who have just changed their name and number and see what they advise you.

Its likely that this has been done either to avoid debts or to reduce the redundancy payments in the case that they go belly up, but it is just as likely that its been done simply due to a change of ownership.

Either way, they should have informed all the staff about this and the repercussions as regards tax etc, as it does have implications on all the staff.
