Opportunities for Irish-Qualified Barristers in NZ

I'm considering a move to New Zealand and I was just wondering if anyone knows what the market is like job-wise for an Irish-qualified barrister?

I've carried out some research on their bar council/law society websites and the general info is that as a lawyer qualified in an overseas jurisdiction, I can apply to the NZ council to see if my credentials etc satisfy their requirements. But that is if one wanted to practice as an "independent barrister" (which I'm assuming would be similar to practising down in the Law Library here).

Does anyone know if there are many/any in-house counsel opportunities out there or is paralegal work more what a junior barrister could expect?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. The move is due to happen in approx 3 months. I have yet to contact recruitment agencies so at this stage, I am merely looking for info from anyone who has been in my position or who is "in the know".

    Many thanks, in advance.

    NSDB
