Anyone have advice on choosing a college? A friend has been offered a Hdip in both UCD and TCD, she's having trouble trying to decide! Any advice, stories or warnings?

In terms of course content I know there is little difference. There are three real differences 1) in UCD you are in school every day - in Trinity I think it's three days; 2) you are supervised 6 times in random classes by UCD while it's 4 (told in advance) by TCD; and in UCD you have one two-hour exam - the rest is assignment based. TCD go big on exams by comparison.

Of course Trinity might have the advantage of being city-centre for anyone relying on public transport.

Obviously people can read all sorts of advantages/disadvantages into either system and will probably suggest the one they did was better.

I'm just finished in UCD and would have no major warnings, other than really obvious stuff like making sure you can get to and fro from school to college every day without having too much stress.

I would suggest that a student gets on with whatever they end up in. In the long run I'd say it'll matter not a whit which one she chooses. It's a short year anyway.
