I have a video file here. The sound plays fine in VLC but not in Media Player Classic. There is just video but no sound in MPC.

How do I find out what codec is missing from MPC?

    Thanks

Seems to suggest Dolby AC3 is the one that's missing. I was under the impression once the codec is on the PC all the apps would pick it up but clearly I'm way off here?

VLC and MPC use their own codecs internally, falling back to DirectShow codecs if no internal codec is available. I think ffdshow supports AC3.
