Leaking from window sill

    Hello all,
Looking for some expert advice on a problem which originally surfaced during the great rains of Nov 2009! I have water leaking down to an arch in a room from what I believe and my engineer believes is the window sill above where the damp proofing was installed incorrectly/damaged. I'm reasonably handy at the diy so I proposed to grind/kango out the sill and replace the damaged DPC with a lead sill tray made from left over lead from the house build - It was a direct labour build.
1st question: do you think this would solve the problem (i think it will)
2nd question: would it be cheaper to get a builder to do it considering I may have to hire a cherry picker or some sort of thing to get sufficient access and purchase on the sill to remove it??
your advice is appreciated as always
    Thanks

Since its happening in both west and east doorways, would you not suspect the lead flashing rather then both damp course being damaged?

fair point in fairness and i was convinced of that initially, but as you can see from this pic the water is getting in under the sill and into the blockwork somewhere... If the flashing was faulty I would have expected to see damp spots on the ceiling first and in other areas than just at the two arches which happen to be positioned under the sills... could be wrong tho! it's only bad really at the E of the room when it really pisses... but want to get it sorted during the summer.
    Thanks for feedback

It`s either or, I would point around the window with a sealant. That could cure it

I had a similar problem, the roof had to paired back and it turned out that there was a hairline slit in one piece of lead flashing and that was where the water was weeping in.

Carpenters had nailed lead flashing up on wall and plasterer had plastered down 2 inches over it so i got a leak through corner of window sill where lead flashing was right under it and then on other side of conservatory where there was no window around the lead flashing water came in on the block because it was a outside wall carpenters blamed plasterer so he stripped all plaster of the gable in the mean time i got the carpenters to chase a 2 inch into the gable and to bend the lead 2 inches into the wall and to wedge it and then i got plasterer to plaster down a good bit over it the plasterer put a good 3 coats on gable this time its facing the Atlantic so bad wind and rain drives into it do you think would solve the leak it has so far but im still weary about it.
