Much cheaper to stuff him in a suitcase and pay the excess baggage.

I'm not sure which is the more ridiculous, trying to smuggle a body aboard a plane, or any government charging three thousand to allow someone to be buried in their own country. :(

Most people agree Brokeback Mountain was the first gay themed blockbuster movie. But I'd have to give that award Commando.

All airlines including Ranair have an excess limit of 30kg max per each hold luggage bag. They would have to cut the body in half and place the pieces in seperate bags to destribute the weight.

They could have had a bonfire and brought him back in the ash tray....

Seems a bit drastic, no? How about we make that the final solution.

Thats what it states on your ticket and at check in. 30kg is the max allowable for baggage handlers to lift, above that they can refuse. :)

They should have had the thing cremated and brought through in an urn.

A German couple tried to smuggle their dead 91 yo relative from Liverpool to Germany to avoid excessive 3K repatriation charges.

This is just like something taken out of the movie Little Miss Sunshine that was shown on Telifis Eireann over the weekend. :p

The dead man was sitting in a wheelchair wearing sunglasses. :D

I bet this started off as a simple predicament and escalated like an episode of peep show.

If you are wheel chair bound they normally carry you up & down the steps to the plane. Surely the chap carrying the man up would have sussed something was wrong?
It would have been a bit spooky for that airline worker.

I suppose the two old fralines were hoping for the best...

The article was badly written. At the start:
"A 44-year-old woman and a 66-year-old woman are currently being questioned"

    At the end
"Two women, aged 41 and 66"

So it is safe to assume that the process took -3 years?

    Also,
A source said: “The airport staff at the check in were not happy with the situation.” - really? I thought they would have been quite happy with a dead man checking in for a flight.

Amateur ;). Just stop off at a medical school to make a few scientific donations before proceeding to the airport. That way there is still rooms for a few pairs of jocks.

3K is a bit steap, you would think that it should be a lot cheaper than flying a live person as there would be no chance of a costly life insurance claim if the plane crashed. :p.

Why was the driver traumatised if it wasn't discovered that relative was dead until they got to check-in?
