Injustice in Ireland ? Look at Scotland and Hollie Greig.

Last year the BBC were ready to run three stories on Hollie Greig.

A Radio Scotland radio broadcast, a BBC Scotland TV program and a national Panorama TV program. The BBC had an exclusive on the story and were sure this story would go round the world.

But the broadcasts were cancelled and the 3 BBC reporters involved were threatened with their jobs and told they were not to report any more stories on child abuse in Scotland.

It takes a little time and effort to read up on Hollie Greig, but it demonstrates the abuse of power that is all too familiar here in Ireland, especially regarding the child abuse issue.

The difference in this story, is that we have hard evidence of people in positions of power in Scotland refusing to do their job and represent the people. Also, we have the media being threatened not to run a very significant story.

This situation appears not to have happened in Ireland yet or does anybody know different ?.

For something that was a Panorama investigation that was covered up, I'm surprised there seems to be no mainstream media coverage of this.

The tabloids would love this story.

    *Looks at OP time..
    *Looks at watch..

So a topic has one reply after being up in AH for over an hour?
That's a pretty damn high level of indifference, non understanding or non caring..

No wonder whatever the topic is, got pulled from the show.

In fairness, this has come up a couple of times here and I'm sure other places before and it still doesn't seem to be getting picked up in the mainstream media either.

I realise this is not a very pleasant topic and it takes a degree of strength to even start reading about these issues.
People naturally try to avoid the issue, to keep it out of their lives, but that does not make the problem go away unfortunately.
I admit I'm useless at writing on these boards, but I do feel strongly enough to start writing about it to tell people what is going on. I originally come from Scotland, but now live in Ireland and hear similar things on the radio day in day out.

Nice to see people making the effort. I'm sure youre attitude would change if you'd bothered your arse to read the thing.

I would be amazed if this was an isolated incident. Either in Scotland or Ireland. Perhaps other instances may not be to the same scale but I'm sure they do exist.
