Hi there, Meteor as well as o2 offer 3G USB-sticks for 20€ - really cheap. Does anyone know whether those are sim- or netlocked? And if they are, does the MWconn - a totally legal alternative to the standard provider conneciton software - make them work? Thx for help!

All modems are SIM locked, and software alone will not get around that. You have to unlock the modem before using any other SIM in it.

Hi, thx for your help :). In Germany many 3G sticks are locked only by the connection software on the stick (not the firmware!): There is no hareware lock. So if you change the connection sw (e.g. MWconn instead of the huawei "Mobile Partner" ) many sticks work fine with any provider and it is not illegal.
