Have you tried dropping into them? The staff are very friendly. Generally the only requirement for new members (read account holders) is that you live within the locality. Credit Unions are primarily established for their own communities so you need to live within the catchment area.

In terms of loans, it is often the case that new members can only borrow up to the amount of money they have on deposit. Over time, as you build a relationship, this can become more flexible. Alternatively, clear supporting documentation regarding income\ability to repay may accelerate this.

The CU in Kildare Town is open today during normal Tuesday to Thursday, until 7pm on Friday and on Saturday morning.
