    Mods - sorry if this is posted in wrong forum - please move if necessary.

    Quick question - can an employer legally decide to stop his contribution to a company pension plan (as part of a cost cutting).

    The guys have already got their bonus cut completely and taken a 10% pay cut, and now seem to think that job cuts are the next thing they are going to have to deal with

    There is no law making employers pay contributions in to pentions for emplyees.

    So as far as I know yes, if it is stated as a benefit in their contract then it can be revoked at any time.

    Even if it isn't detailed as above the best the employees can do is put their greivenve in writing but as they have already accepted a pay cut they don't have a lot to stand on unless the company is still making profits.
