Does anyone know what (if any) import duties are payable if I import goods from the USA.

The product I'm looking at comes from an American manufacturer but isn't available outside the USA.

Yes their is, start here http://www.revenue.ie/en/customs/index.html

Theirs a few taxes you will pay on the items customs tax vat etc.

Remember their leckie is 110 volt so you got to check if they supply 230 volt versions which is the eu standard.

    Hello Dubtony,

If you can detail the product you intend to import, I can have a look at the tariff classification and the rate of duty.

If it is just for private use, there probably are no issues to take into account, however, if the item is for re-sale in Ireland you have to take the CE mark into consideration. Without a CE mark customs is liable to stop the product from coming in.

Hi there, is there a public accessible website where I can get more information on tariffs and the general practices of the C&D people? Thanks.

    Thanks for that, Rudolf!

Fortunately, the products I am dealing with are very compact, very easy to pack and ship.

The Chinese Seller has said that they prefer to do UPS or DHL, and that this is CHEAPER than 6 weeks at Sea.

Does that make sense to you?

Why would it cost less to send 40KG via UPS than via Sea?

    Thanks, as ever.
