Video Podcasts not Compatible

Any time lately that I've tried to download a video podcast for my 2nd Gen iPod Touch, I get the message after the download that my device is not suitable.

Are Apple trying to get me to download (and pay for) their latest firmware, or is there some other reason?

If you're still on OS 2.x, then I'd say that's your problem - though I can't say for sure, obviously. The other thing to point out is that the videos are encoded and supplied the producers of the podcasts, not Apple. I have no reason to believe that Apple hosts or re-encodes video podcasts.

    Cheers.

So is this upgrade worth the €3.99, or are there any issues?
