Hey guys there's a high chance of severe weather today across the northern plains in the U.S, there's a 10% hatch area of Tornado potential.

Reed Timmer from Tornadovideos.net is calling for today to be "Apocalypes Monday" :D and he himself is out today chasing and thats a good omen because me personally feel he's a great forcaster and chaser and he'll find the tornados today :P

Had a quick look at Reed's stream. Looks like thats Joel beside him in the car? Good to see them chasing together again after the high profile breakup on the Discovery channel. :D

LOL yes a lovers tiff on national tv, but to be fair to Joel, Reed sometimes needs a clatter because he can become quite aggresive towards the boys if they miss an oppurtunity (sp) or position and snaps with them.

Same again tonight John, on my broadband at least .

Same here and i'm on the UPC 30Mb, but at least we have the other two chaser sites to view.

It'll be sh1te if chasers from chasertv are the only crew near a tornado later and we wont be able to see anything :(

I'm keeping an eye on it too, the chase problem around southern Iowa or northern Missouri may be that the storms will be embedded in low-ceiling cloud systems associated with a warm front moving north. There is also an area being watched around Tulsa OK to Joplin in s.e. MO where any cells would be discrete and easier to track. However these are less likely to develop during daylight. That area could get rocked overnight by strong storms.

This outbreak will redevelop tomorrow around St Louis to Springfield IL and on Wednesday in eastern IN and western Ohio.

Anyway, while those guys chase in the primary target zone, I will keep an eye on the Tulsa and Wichita radars and post anything interesting. That area is well into the warm sector with temperatures currently near 28 C and dew points near 17 C.

Thanks for your insight M.T , just before i read your comment i had a look at the front page of http://www.tornadovideos.net/ and a mod there named Heidi has posted a similar view to yours if i'm correct :)

With there being another high possibility of severe weather today across the southern and high plains i say we keep this thread going rather than starting a new one if the mods don't mind :)

All relevant links to streams and info are in my first post on this thread

Now i hope that we see a tornado live because its been a disaster the last few nights and i'm probably after jinking myself now by posting here :p

    Enjoy

Boot up this link and click on "composite loop" to see how fast this squall line is developing. Dew points ahead are 15-17 C, to the west about 5 C.

Looks like tornadic potential by 22z around Ottawa KS

I think that's the cell to watch. Are any of the storm chasers on this one? I am jumping in and out of this thread, sorry if I don't respond right away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 788 ✭✭✭John2009

    Yes

    http://www.tornadovideos.net/live

click on the chaser by the nickname of chasethestorms, he has nearly 500 viewers, he's on the cell NW Ottawa

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,741 ✭✭✭✭M.T. Cranium

Thanks, will do that. Whatever happens today, I think tomorrow will be better, from southern IL across IN into western OH. Better upper dynamics developing for this front by about 18z Wed with an energy peak around 21z.

Some nice sites linked there, pretty interesting to see these guys chasing the storms, and to see their positioned updated on the map, with the radar overlay.
One thing i was wondering though, is there ever any sound on the live streams?
