Yet another Hair Dresser Question!!

I know there's been lots of threads relating to hairdressers over the last while, so I apologise for starting yet another one!

But I was wondering if anybody could recommend a really good hairdresser around the Kildare or South Dublin/city Centre area.

Basically what I'm looking for is a hairdresser who would be able to advise me as to the best cut for my height, face shape, etc. I've been to a few different hairdressers in the past, and while the cuts were ok, I never felt they were really outstanding or really designed specifically for me. For example, one thought that I should get a side finge, 'because they're very popular at the moment'. Now while I like the idea of a side fringe, I'm not sure I should get it just because it's 'popular'. They've also encouraged me to have short layers around my face (even though I specified that I must be able to tie up my hair as I work outside with animals every day, so the last thing I need is hair blowing into my eyes). Most of them also insist in drying my hair exceptionally straight and almost flat on the top of my head, even though I told them I prefer to put in a little volume as my hair is naturally quite light and sits flat on my head.

I'm close to finishing college, and will hopefully have a few interviews coming up, so I need to have one that's presentable and flattering, but without being overly dressy or fashionable, if that makes sense.

Obvioulsy I don't want to have to fork out a fortune, but I'd be willing to pay a little more than usual (e.g. Peter Mark's or Toni and Guy) to get something good.

Brown Sugar, it's near Stephen's Green. It's the only place where you should get your hair done!

Thanks tinkerbell. I see from their website that they've also got a salon in Blackrock. Is this as good as the one in Stephen's Green?

I can strongly recommend Debbie in the city centre one.
I've never been to the one in Blackrock but one of the girls in work gets her highlights done there and they look great.

I know it's a small place but of all the places I've been to trendy or otherwise the only place I trust is the temple hair and beauty lounge in templeogue village

it's a bit out of the city centre (half hour) but they're friendly, personal and are happy enough to recommend and discuss styles colours etc from my experience

oh and they also ask how you want your hair dried so they won't just automatically do it straight

Haven't been to the one in Blackrock, I just go to the one off Stephen's Green. Brown Sugar is amazing though! Can't recommend it enough.

Khaki in Tallaght - I adore the place, lovely staff and I ALWAYS leave the salon happy with my hair. Everyone in my job comments on my hair when I've had it done there.
I went to Brown Sugar when it first opened but a few years back, great service too but I'm not in town very much these days.

How much is a haircut in Brown Sugar (on average)?

I looked it up on their website a few days ago and it said it was about €80 for a cut and blowdry; €70 for the Blackrock salon.

I would strongly suggest anyone thinking of going to the temple hair and beauty lounge in templeogue village thinks again ..
    They ruined my hair ..

They have the best products but the worst staff ...the colorist , could not care less and has no interest in her job or what she is doing or putting in someone hair ... And the stylist that did my hair at best could be called second rate ....* asked for my hair to be trimmed up 2 to 3 inch she cut 6 inches off the button and did not even touch the rest of my hair ... Bascily cuing the stlye out of my hair !!!

When I rang a few days latter to say I was not happy with the hair cut , I was told " well it's only hair it will grow !!! " please if you don't want to end up in tears and your hair ruined like I did avoid the temple hair and beauty lounge in templeogue village

Avoid avoid avoid ... There is a reason way this place is empty

Hi Aidan - from a search through LinkedIn, I can see that Karen Chadwick is listed as the owner of the Temple Hair & Beauty Lounge. Can you disclose the nature of your relationship with Ms. Chadwick?
