    Hi All,

I am inheriting a Brno CZ 527 .22 Hornet from a relative who is getting older and does not want to pay the 3 year lisence for a gun he has'nt used for years. The gun is perfectly clean with a few small dents on the stock. I just dont want to see it recycled.

The rifle has a 3x-9x. 40 Bushnell Scope on it

I have been given a half box of Winchester bullets - Super X 22 Hornet 46gr Hollow Point.

There is also a night force lamp with it and brackets attaches to the scope for the light. The bulb must be gone, I,m sure they can be replaced

It also has a bipod on it.

I have never done any rifle shooting, just held the light for another fellow years ago.

Please give me any information yea can on what I am getting. What is this rifle most suitable for. I am told it has shot many a fox.

All comments appreciated. I know I have a lot to learn looking at some of the previous threads.

A good rifle and great for fox shooting. Take your time and get some target shooting done to see how the gun reacts.
I hope you get many years of shooting with it.

Its an excellent rifle, you have the perfect setup for shooting foxes. And it will be devastating on rabbits and other smaller vermin. .22 hornet is a lovely caliber to shoot. There are plenty of videos of it in action on youtube.

As clivej said take your time and get some target shooting done. Plenty of practice during the day. Make sure you are confident with you shooting before you go foxing at night. And be sure of you back stop.

best of luck with your new gun.

I hope that when you say "inherit" that you are also in the process of getting some paperwork for this rifle

sounds like a lovely set up. cant beat the cz i'v had 2 to my name. a 22lr which i still have and a magnum that i traded in for a .223.
i never had a hornet but its in between a magnum and a .223 so it should be a very capable round out to 150 yards and even 200 yards if you get to know how it shoots.
    good luck and happy hunting.

Thanks for all the good wishes.
I am just wondering are these Winchester the best bullets to be using for fox and greys.
Also - what is the procedure for getting a moderator.

Don't worry Jonty, I have just received all paper work for rifle I inherited.

Your Super must grant you permission for/to use a mod. If successful then he will either give you a letter of permission or and/or get you license renewed with an "S" in the bottom LH corner showing your mod grant.

Having said this you can still buy a mod over the counter from most dealers but as said you must have permission the "possess" a mod.

I know a lad was fined and had his license revoked for 2 years for not having a permission.
