New Car Advice

Buying a new car and no knowledge of cars.

Looking to spend between 10K - 15K max.

My main requirements are low maintenance and running cost (Tax Insurance Fuel) and value for money on the scappage deals. Obviously resale value is important to a point.

With all the deals being advertised hard to know what is genuine value.

    Any advice appriciated.

Or is second hand still the way to go.

    Thanks

Best advice is to start driving anything you think might suit, find out what car best fulfills your needs.

A bit more information might help like what size engine would you be looking for? What style car you thinking of ie. saloon, hatchback? Will you need it for work, driving kids around etc?

there's a multitude of choice out there, some small cars will suit your wallet but perhaps not size wise if you are often transporting a family or number of people around.

If a small car suits your lifestyle I recommend a Yaris diesel (1.4 D4D)
I have one from new (08) and have put 89,000 kms on it.
    Very economical 63mpg (4.5lt/100kms).
    Car tax band A (€104)
90bhp and 0-100kmph in 10.7secs so its nippy for overtaking.
Camchain engine and service intervals (oil&filter) of 15k kms
It's roomy too for 4 tall adults but the boot is tiny.

If a Yaris is too small then I'd recommend a Focus/Auris Diesel, they look the biz.

OP - are there any cars you have already ruled out?

€14.5 will get you a new top spec Clio Tomtom 1.5dci with metallic, climate, cruise, satnav, etc. A few hundred extra will secure you a 5 year warranty. The car will cost VERY little to run, cheap tax and 60mpg. Refined, comfortable, safe and well regarded by the trade so you should do OK come resale. Small diesels will always be wanted. IMO it is the best and most small car for the money.

Honda Jazz if you want a small car and there is not a better car out there than the Jazz.

Renault have a lot of deals and trade ins.

A meaguine for less than €15K - sounds good deal.
