Good deal for people who may be interested in getting into skydiving or just interested in doing a tandem (30 seconds freefall). Located just off the M7 outside Nenagh. Unfortunately I missed the deal but would well recommend it.

Not sure how long this deal will last as this is the winter offer.

If you want to make a skydive AND enjoy the experience properly, do it outside of Ireland.

It will be cheaper and more enjoyable ;)

At the very least ask and check the MINIMUM altitude you will get and MINIMUM freefall time. Be aware of quotes of "up to" and "weather dependent" some places will bring you to the bare minimum as they are only interested in money.

Having never done it outside of Ireland I can't compare it to that. I expect you have first hand experience can compare it to Irish skydiving centres?

I've done 4 solo jumps all together and absolutely loved it. Its also far cheaper then travelling to another country. I'm trying to get my certification and am trying to get in as many jumps as possible.

I haven't done a tandem jump yet but I know from watching them they jump at 10,000 feet (the media package they often video the altimeter) for tandem with approx 30 second freefall. Everyone who I've seen on the ground after say its one of the best things they've ever done.

They have an excellent safety record. First thing I checked when I started there! As a student skydiver we get at least 2 full safety checks before each jump as well as a day training before our first jump. The weather dependent issue is just for the safety of everyone involved. Obviously if its too windy or raining they will not jump for safety reasons (they don't charge you then).

Anyway just wanted to mention it here as I think its a great deal. I'd recommend everyone do a skydive somewhere at some point in their life!

€240 for the first jump and €65 after that? That's fecken deadly! I'd spend more than that on a night out. Always wanted to do it :)

Not sure there are any others in Ireland. I don't know too much about the Irish Parachute Club.

I have done 11 solo jumps with Skydive Ireland http://www.skydiveireland.ie. Its up to you really which you chose but since I haven't been to the Irish Parachute Club I can't comment about them.

I've found Skydive Ireland to be a very friendly club with a very friendly atmosphere. The instructors are sound out. They recognise the need for someone in my position to get in as many jumps as possible.

I'm sure the Irish Parachute Club is very similar. Anybody here have any experiences with them?

The single jumps aren't skydiving but parachuting. The tandem is however a 30s freefall.

I live right beside the IPC and although I've never done a jump (I'd be terrified) with them, I do know that they have a brilliant set-up and are always busy. Footfall alone for me would suggest that they are good at what they do and I know from friends that have done it that as soon as you land from your first jump, the countdown begins to the second.

not sure which one of those are based in Offaly, but thats the place I did my jump a few yrs ago. It was late autumn, took 3 attempts because of bad weather, but it was the best thing ever!! Thinking back, I cant believe I did it :)

There's an article in the Phoenix about ones of these having no Planning Permission, danger to trains and the public, changing streams to allow the runway and many other problems asssociated with the company.
County Council trying to close them down.
    Not great reading.
