Does anyone remember Music Cubed on TV3?

Does anyone remember when, long before PlayTV, the early hours on TV3 were taken up by a music show called Music Cubed?

It aired during the summer of 2003 - TV3 was a good bit different then to what it is now - and featured songs that were prominent at that time, like The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army", Beyonce and Jay-Z's "Crazy in Love", Evanescence's "Fallen", Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction" and Bell X1's "Tongue". Each song carried a three-digit code, which viewers would phone in with if they wanted that particular song to be played.

I stayed up most nights watching it, and enjoyed most of the songs, but the one I hoped that they would play more than any other was - wait for it - Dannii Minogue's "I Begin To Wonder". She may be better as an X Factor judge than she is as a singer - but in the video for this song she is incredibly hot... :o:o:o

It probably didn't attract as many viewers as PlayTV did, but it was certainly much less controversial (if indeed at all), and its departure from the airwaves was sudden.

    Yes I remember it.
When it finished up it said it would be back. Never happened though. :(

Weirdly enough I was only thinking about this show earlier today.I remember waiting for ages after it finished for it to come back. I also remember that it seemed like they used to play Crazy In Love or Where Is the Love by the Black Eyed Peas a dozen times a night!

They certainly played some songs a lot more than others - Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", though released more than a decade before, was also very common.

Yes! Music Cubed was great - I remember The Revs 'Death Of A DJ' being a regular track, amongst many others.

Don't know why it was taken off - It was very popular. Was it too expensive to play the videos, or was there some problem with the phone regulations?

Wow, a TV3 show where the content was driven by paid text messages... They've certainly gained momentum since then.. soon, tv3 News, with it's syndicated footage, asking the audience to vote with their money whether they want to see, for a €1 plus standard network charges, some badly shot coverage of the latest financial/clerical abuse to hit Ireland or a piece about Jedward leaving a Sauna.. All proceeds goes to the importation of British Television that you can see for free on UTV!! Yay!!!

God bless TV3, can't wait to see their latest shows featuring crime/body modification/crime/soaps about life in a fictional Yorkshire Village/Criminals banged up 'abroad'/crime/badly ripped-off feminist fest featuring a gaggle of checkbook journalists/crime/Corrie/xpose/xpose repeat/last years Christmas xpose special/xpose special on crime/corrie after dark/national news, with youtube clips/cash drain text 'quiz'/crime/wrong weather forecasts/Jordan/ Cheryl and Ashley/something about the 'mainland'/yada yada..

God bless TV3?, God bless Ireland!
