Satellite LNB

I have had a 1 metre offset motorised satellite system for about 15 years (36volt type mount)
The LNB has just given up the ghost and needs to be replaced.
The old LNB is a Grundig and its feedhorn is 8cm or 3 inches in diameter. I replaced it with a spare standard "Sky" type to check if the Grundig really was dead, which it appears to be. Using the replacement LNB I can only receive Hotbird and Astra 1 - nothing from Astra 2 or anything else
The question - do I have to replace the LNB with one of similar size.
I must add that both LNBS are about the same age as the system and have around 0.7 db noise figure.
Want to know what new LNB to get or I may replace the whole lot. If I did the latter, which is the best to get - another 36 volt dc mount or the newer Disq type.
    Thanks for any help!

Keep your 36v system, much stronger that the modern systems.
It's possible you may have a single frequency L.N.B, and not a full band.
Does your system have a polarizer ? and what type of Receiver do you have ?

    Regards,

    Thanks for the reply ISAA,

The LNB while quite old now did work with all frequencies. It was on the original 80cm dish (home made semi-motorised) I had before buying the 'real' motorised system.
The receiver is an Echostar AD-3000IP (and yes it is a bit ancient now, but the whole lot works perfectly well)
I have a horizon to horizon view and am able to receive all satellites in the arc (except for the weaker ones)
When I got the 1 metre dish the LNB came with it, so would it be the case that it matched the focal point of that particular dish. The LNB I have tried is only half the diameter of the original one and I cannot see any LNB in any advertisments that are 8 cm in diameter.

    Thanks again.
