Hi all. am here looking for a little help but kinda under pressure time-wise. my sister is getting married in June and my mom wants to go to dublin on wednesday. as we'll be getting the train from limerick junction we'll be limited to the city centre. mom is a size 16/18, is 62 years old and is about 5'3/5'4. was thinking of arnotts, clerys, richard alan, pamela scott. if anyone can give advice of other places to look i'd be really grateful...

Make a quick phone call to Arnotts or Debenhams and see if you can get an appointment for a personal shopper. It will take major pressure off you and make the day much more fun. It's a free service and they will bring all the clothes to you. Make sure you bring your Mam to the lingerie section and get her measured for a good bra and maybe some magic knickers first. Not trying to be funny but they make a huge difference when trying stuff on. Enjoy your day !

that's a great idea. will give them a buzz and see. mam hasn't been shopping in dublin in 30 years believ it or not so want to give her a good day out, with as little stress as possible!!

Give Clerys a call too, I think they have a personal shopping service too. It will save you a lot of hassle and make your Mam feel a bit special. Just don't let anyone put her in a flowery 2 piece (my own personal hate for Mothers of the bride or groom). Have you got your own outfit sorted ?

i'm bridesmaid so no worries on that score. wearing full length fish tail dresses in a turkish blue colour so am quite happy!!
there'll be no flowery outfits for mum! she doesn't want anything too typically mother of the bride though cos she says she'd like something she can wear again, or part of it anyway (jacket/ skirt etc.)

I'd vote for Debenhams, I love that place!

Great idea, I would never have thought of a personal shopper thing... must remember that! :p

I will vote for debenhams too.

My mammy got her outfit there, completely by chance I might add, we were actually only in changing one of the bridesmaids dresses, she spotted a dress she liked, and a personal shopper did all the rest for her, she got everthing in the one go. It was great!

Wallis have some nice clothes also. There is one at the entrance to Jervis St Shopping Centre.

You should also give one of the make up counters a call and organise to have your mam's make up done, it's usually free (sometimes you have to buy a product) and she'll enjoy the treat!
