    how ye all keeping.
I need to purchase one of these putters but am shirking at the 250 price tag region
clearly I dont wish to buy a knock-off but are there any online or otherwise providers where i may be able to pick one up cheaper

Also, for those of ye using the club, whats the verdict like?
every review i read gives em 5 stars
and I played a round with one earlier this year and got round 14 holes with just 20 putts
I feel a club like this gives you such an advantage in comps when the bloke next to you pulls out a rusty srixon, mizuno etc

what type of scottie do you want? there are a whole range of them.
i use a newport 2 and love the feel.
a guy i know uses a rusty old no name putter and he is the best putter i have ever seen , so i guess its not what you have but how you use it:D

I quiver whenever a fellow competitor takes a Scotty Cameron out of the bag when im up against him in competition, I feel at such a disadvantage before a putt is rolled. You Candleman have this game sussed:rolleyes:

+1 sweetswing I play with a guy who putts beautifully and uses an old ping anser copy.

+1 to all that. I use a Newport 2 myself (was lucky to get it as a gift !) and its fine but I'd say to you don't get hung up on a make - with putting whatever works works. My father uses a putter that must be 40 years old and holes almost everything inside 10 feet and wouldn't dream of changing.

If the cost of a Scotty is a little too high to justify (in my own opinion they are too high), then you can't go wrong with a Ping Anser - the Newport is basically a copy of that anyway.

Remember its often the "puttee" and not the "putter" :D

I used to use a howson putter then changed to a Dunlop and lost a few shots so I invested in a TM rossa putter. I can safely say it has changed my putting for the better. Last 2 rounds I scored 35 & 39 points and had very few 2 putts.

Mine. Lovely putter. You don't want to know the price. I mentioned it once to my wife and didn't get away with it so ... once burned...

    Thanks for the replies chaps.
I think I'll go for one around the 220 mark.
It better make a big difference to my game!
And I wont be telling the wife about the price.
Btw, would anyone care to recommend a good putting dvd.
Good stuff and great forum by the way, ye guys really know ye're stuff.

So we can assume you're now on tour?! Perhaps you mean you were missing greens and then holing putts for par? or you were birdieing every hole;)?

no, not on tour!! Unless there is one for a 22 handicap!!!

You are right though, as an example - on a par 4 sometimes i'd only be on the green in 3 and then 2 /3 putting an awful lot. I have a terrible second shot which i'm working on but with my putting its improved vastly.

so you think a rossa improved your game considerably?

I have to laugh. Half the players going to the Masters are using putters that retail at €100-€130, and punters like us want to spend €220+ because it will give them "an advantage".

Look at what Mickleson uses. It's $99.

I think I'll bring out the ShriekingSheet putter, and charge €350 for it, with such tangible marketing strategies as "better than the Scotty"... "will give you an advantage".

If you're loaded, fair enough. If you're not, wake up.

+1 to all that. Dead right.

Sure there'll be some differences in feel between putters but really, its all about what fits your eye.
e.g. I had a look at the new Scotty California range - silly money and yet I wouldn't use one if you paid me, I thought they look awful. I'm sure another person will think they are the best thing since round baled silage.

Seriously, Op, get whatever putter you want/like no matter what it is - there's no room on the card for a description of the club used to hole out. Or just spend an extra hour per week on the putting green and you might find your current weapon does the job just as well.

You can buy scottys in very bad condition off ebay for cheap then send them off to scotty cameron to get refurbished. Think it costs 180 dollars all in.

edit: I had my heart set on doing this with a scotty tel3 but then bought a yes! tracy putter off someone here & love it.

I sold my Odyssey Dualforce 550 putter a few years back to buy a spanking new Scotty. However when I went to McGuirks to look at them in the flesh I actually didn't like a single one.

I actually wound up buying the same putter that I had just sold - again !! There is an amazing sharp topline on this putter that none of the newer Odyssey's have - I won't be letting it out of my sight again.
