Hi, I am a 24yr old guy and I usually go on a tear at the weekends with friends. Like many people my age I often go pretty hard at it and usually have great fun and let off plenty of steam. I am usually a very happy guy and naturally cheerful but like anybody I also have my down times where I don't feel very good. However I think this is often just situational or just normal ups and downs of daily life. Anyway after weekend sessions I am often very down for about 2 days or even more sometimes. I usually attribute these feelings to the 'drinking blues' but I also think they it may be that I feel sort of empty. In other words I am in great form at the weekend when surrounded by friends and drinking, having fun etc. but when Monday comes around it is back to sort of going through the motions again for another week. Anyone else relate to this?

First thing to try and change is your drinking atitude. Is your drinking blues related to a hangover? Try and have a few social drinks when out with your friends at the weekend instead of trying to pass out from drink. Or even try to not drink when your out. (Designated driver is a good excuse for this one)

You should also try something to fill the void of the mondays and tuesdays of every week by having something to look forward to. Maybe try to organise weekly 5-a-side soccer with your friends for every monday evening or something similar. Dont get into the routine of living for the weekend and hating the working week. Its fine in your late teens or early 20's but can quickly lead to depression if habits remain unchanged.

To be honest i would expect to feel like this after a weekend on the beer. I'm surprised you ever felt in high spirits on a monday and tue after a weekend's drinking.

What eaxctly is a weekend session for you? put timescales on it?
