Found this website and had to share! It's a make your own shoes- shop :D

I have problems finding good shoes as my feet are so narrow and wedding shoe shopping has been a nightmare! But this place makes them in different widths and colours and has accessories and heel heights and oh my how the list goes on... They are a little pricey if you are on a budget :( but the "make your own shoes" gadget is fun to play around with!

anyone any success stories with finding their shoes?? What am I doing wrong?

IMO, ladies spend too much on wedding shoes.
When will they wear them again. Who sees them.?
There are lots of things more important than shoes.

Don't be silly :D there's very little in life more important than shoes!

If you can't walk or if you end up with blisters on your feet, the day's ruined no matter how much you spend on the 'more important' things.

I'm having wedding runners. They look a bit like converse and they make them to match the colour of your dress! Comfort all day long!:)

Very cool site but oh my God are they expensive.

I covered a wedding last week where the bride wore wedding boots, they were gorgeous, a little longer than ankle boots but shorter than calf, they were lovely.

My own wedding shoes cost me €30 only and were so comfy, I had a very deep cream dress and couldnt for the life of me find shoes to match, I actually got them on ebay and they were the exact colour of the dress, when I saw them I thought well if they dont work out its only €30 but they were so comfy and just perfect.

    nah if it's a pressie don't bother... I'll have a look around:)

smellthegloves, I've seen plenty of wedding shoes for around 30 so they seem pretty reasonable in general.

This really needs a two part answer..

    1. I would not tar all ladies with the same brush. I always aspire to wear every pair of shoes I own, alot more than once, therefore if I am to buy "wedding shoes" it will be with the notion of "when will I be able to wear these again?" Most women buy shoes that can be dyed after so they can get more wears out of them or some wear strappy sandals that can be worn anytime during the summer months with party dresses etc.

    2. Who sees them? Am... EVERYONE you show them to!! We're girls remember!! Here again, you are generalising brides. My dress is tea length, which means it comes just below the knee. My legs are on show from the calf down. As I walk up the aisle, everyone and their mother will be able to see my shoes... They need to be nice. Not every lady wears the full length gown which hides her shoes.
There are lots of things more important than shoes.

While I agree that this statement is very true of a wedding day, shoes do hold a significance as you are (usually) in the same pair for more than 12 hours. When it comes to heels, thats a very, very hard thing to do. Comfort is of the utmost importance on the day and comfort does not come with very cheap shoes. I am not advocating that women should spend hundreds on their shoes but they should invest in a decent pair that will set them at ease for the day.

Toots* high 5 for wedding runners!! I am hoping to get shoes for my swanning down the aisle and then change into cons to dance the night away!!

Heineken Helen, if you know someone in the states you can use the Converse website to create your own pair and then have the website ship the shoes to your state side contact and get them to send them over here, as the don't ship internationally at the moment... OR...

:D this website Solecreator offer all the vans, cons etc style "plimsoles" with a create your own version tool there and they are based in UK... YEA!

smelltheglove I know that website is expensive but it's fun to play with!! ;) we can dream can't we!! my friend was at a wedding where the bride wore vintage boots, her dress was very victorian and they looked unreal in the photos... I had forgotten about shoes on ebay so Im off to have a little look! Thanks :)

i've seen the runners on the net, they weren't that expensive i think. I will prob go for something like that too - or maybe ballet pumps or nice flip flops / sandals.

We have a lot of walking around to do on the day on cobblestoned streets so i can't do heels. I'm not great with them at the best of times and my fiance is the same height as me also!

I haven't gone looking for shoes really yet but i don't want to spend much more than 30-40 quid really. Prob going to go internet as i don't know where else to look.

I got my shoes from next and they were really comfy, but to be honest I was on such a high I don't think I would have even noticed if my feet were cut to shreds.

Have a look on next website - you can order a couple of styles and see which is best and then just take the ones you want. Thats what I did - ordered 3 styles into my nearest branch, took them home, had a try (put plastic bags over the soles so as not to mark them and wear them around the house for a while to see how you get on!) Then I chose the pair I wanted and brought the others back.
The ones I got were quite high, but they have others with lower heels, which would be more comfy for some people.

I think 'wedding' shoes in general are a rip off - fair enough I do understand you will be in them for hours, but I also know of people who bought 'wedding' shoes and still ended up with blisters!

Failing that, get a cheap enough pair, break them in well and get them covered (there is a place in Pavilions in swords doing covering).

    best shoes I found: http://www.rainbowclub.co.uk/.

Try them on in wedding shops in Ireland for the right size, then order them off the supplier in England for pretty much half the price. (sorry, I know one should support the local shops and all, but not if they charge double the price...).

Seriously comfy, not too expensive, and they are pretty (and you can get them in any colour you want, too ;-))

Sounds very cool. I wore new rock boots for my trash the dress shoot and they looked unreal, I now bring them whenever I do a trash the dress for the bride to wear. Wouldnt wear them for a wedding though.

    Converse sound very cool too.

Thank you! I checked out your site for a trash the dress shoot, very, very cool indeed!! New rock boots are serious with a full on wedding gown but I'd look like a little girl in her Dad's wellies if I put them on! :D

on that note... :D and the Bride (and everyone else for that matter) wore wellies!!

I'm wearing hot pink heels under my wedding dress! Perfect solution, and they'll even match my flowers :D

this is becoming very popular - lots of brides chosing a knock em dead pair of coloured shoes that co-ordinate with their flowers/bridesmaids.
It can look really well, and more chance you will use the shoes afterwards.

Sounds like a brilliant idea. I always wear runners and don't even own a pair of proper shoes. I'm all for comfort. :) I know they were a present, but any idea where they can be bought?

simple solution for that: get two pairs! ;-) Obvious justification is that they need to be worn in, and the second pair would be the backup...:D

Found my perfect dress at the weekend... and it's tea length :D so shoes are about become a major deal!

My dress budget went through the roof.. and I'm guessing the shoe budget is about to do the same. Ah well :o bye bye photographer!
