    Hi.:D
How does online betting work, ie PaddyPower, Boyles etc.
Like, do you use a credit card and then set a limit on your account of eg €100?
If you set up an a/c with Paddy Power do you go into the shop if you want to collect the money from your account or what do you do?
    Thanks.:)

You've loads of options, credit card, bank card etc, you can set a limit all right if your afriad you'll go nuts, you can set that online.
When you win money it stays in your balance online, then when you want the money click withdraw and wait for it to appear in your account in the bank.

baz, you can deposit and withdraw through the shop if you want.*

You can also do it through your laser, visa, master card etc.*

If you like Poker, yopu can transfer 'sportsbook' balance to 'poker' balance and play poker online with your money. Same goes for casino but I'm not a fan*

*Obv depende on which bookies you choose

Bet365 is the best by a long way from my experiences, and i've had an account with nearly everyone. They also have €200 worth of free bets when you sign up using a code, it's released in different segments depending on how much your average bet is. If you're fortunate enough to get the opportunity to make a withdrawal they're usually fast and will have it into your account in two days or so and for the love of God don't sign up with that Paddy Power shower of tightwads, especially if you're intending on betting on the football as Bet365 usually have better prices than most and also give bonuses based on how many teams you have in a multiple that wins. Treble = +5% and so on.

You have to be over 18 to gamble by the way. ;) And, DO NOT use your mother credit card, get a debit card.

Would Ladbrokes, PP or BoyleSports allow you to withdraw and deposit in the shops?
I'd say that could be the best option for me.:)

Cash in the shop will be the only option I'll have I'd say.:P

Ladbrokes, PP and Boyles are the only ones that are relatively local to me that would have websites, I think.

When i was under 18 a few years ago i used to use the oul' lasses credit cards, but i had the account in her name to be sure, as when they asked for i.d etc it was hers that was needed. Do that and you'll be sound, but if you had a big win then technically it'd be her money. :pac:

I've got a similar issue, baz. I usually bet in cash but lodged a few quid on Thursday to my account in shop with PP. Have had a nice weekend with the punting so I just asked PP can I take cash from shop. Apparently, this facility isn't available at the moment but at end of month they're introducing a cash card so that you can do it.

just to point out that the banks are keeping an eye on online gambling transactions ....so my advice is not to use your credit card/laser .... but create an account and top up in a shop.

there was a thread about it on boards - I cant be arsed looking and linking but feel free to search for it yerself, banks charging for "cash" transactions for online betting/gambling and also banks refusing loans based on online gambling.

    just a heads up.

So it's safe to do it with the cash top-ups without using credit/laser cards?

well... if you take money out of your account the bank cant tell where you spend it (unless you get it deposited back into your account IF you win)

Personally I've chosen to go and visit a casino for my gambling - blackjack is my game of choice - but as someone who had a bit of a problem with gambling (racked up a couple of grand debt from online gambling...approx €8K in less than 6months) - I find its easier to control when you can actually see the money in your hand.

Last night I went into casino with €250 .... lost it in approx an hour...quick visit to atm for another €100..... got lucky.... walked out of casino with €550 (€200 profit) .... bank only sees me taking €350 out of my account. :D

Baz, I use PayPal personally, you use your Visa credit card, or your parents to put come money into your account and then from there, you transfer it to your PaddyPower or other bookies. I'm not sure how it exactly works as I usually have a a bit of income being sent directly to me PayPal but it can't be hard. When you withdraw from PaddyPower to your PayPal, you can then withdraw that to your bank account, or your parents one. Betfair is probably the best, but for starters, I reckon Paddy is you man ;)

Hope that made some sense, I kinda didn't look back on what I wrote so apologies if it's a little riddled.

    Dooce.

ya same i use paypal aswell, very wise choice, security within the site is top notch aswell, easy to use and quick withdrawel to bank if lucky:D

i started off using pp,when i started betting but have now moved to bet365,,personally i find pp alot easyier to use but odds are poor in comparsion to 365,,also if you plan on doing "betting in running",avoid pp its very slow to update and stuff...

would recommend pp over bet365 for beginners just because of its simplicity..:)
