you wanna go to an amateur fight, or pro?

amateurs (as in the guys we send to the Olympics) do be on quite regularly compared to pro events,

being honest, we have very few pro events over here, im not sure when our next one would be

    where are you situated?

Sorry I take it you mean Manny Pacquiao , if thats the case , It would have to be a trip to Vegas more than likely.
As for local nights Egan Promotions where going to have an event on April the 17th in City West not sure if its still going ahead , but the talk was of a few Irish titles on the line that night. Could be what you are looking for , a few of the lads on here may have more info.

EDIT just check city west website and can find nothing about Egan's Boxing event ,so it may be a non runner , sorry

Sorry but getting a ticket to a pac fight isn't going to be easy, you might want to reconsider. Boxing is an awkward sport to watch live unless your filthy rich

If you want to go to a decent standard, well publicised boxing event in Ireland, then your best bet is to wait a little while till the next card is announced. Andy Lee is rumoured to be fighting in May in UL(although there has also been word that, that card may not come off), however at worst Paul McCloskey should be defending his European title in June in Belfast(kings Hall).

There will be other fight cards in Ireland in or around this time period but these are the two major ones.

Tommy Egan's show for April is off btw lads, he may try it again at a later date but for now it's a non runner.

Yeah for an irish card hold off till the summer and there will be at least one worth going to.

Here is a link showing all upcoming fights in ireland: http://boxrec.com/location.php?country_code=IE&region_name=null&towncity_name=&towncity_id=&venue_name=&yyyy=&submit=Go

as you can see there is nothing announced and the last one was in feb. Keep an eye on that link (btw the homepage is www.boxrec.com and you just click on location and look for ireland to get to there)

Also keep checking here as there is usually a thread about irish cards when announced.

Keep in mind that link won't show you the fights on in Northern Ireland, you'll have to go to the UK part of the schedule to see that.

Paul McCloskey's European title defence vs Giuseppe Lauri looks like it could be on the 7th of May(although that's not certain) and will likely be on at Kings Hall in Belfast.
That'll probably be a fairly decent card, Carl Frampton is going to be on the undercard.

There's still plenty of work being done behind the scenes for Andy Lee's fight and if it goes ahead Michael Sweeney vs Ian Tims(Irish Cruiserweight title) and Jamie Power vs John Waldron(which will be an Irish Light-heavyweight title eliminator, whether officially or not) will be on the card, so that would be a very good show. However that card isn't guaranteed yet, but we should be getting some news about it soon enough.

Take him to this fight - cheap ryanair to London, hotel shouldnt be to expensive and it's going to be a great fight, probably go myself.

The only problem with that card is that it's a Frank Warren show so you can expect 3/4 pull outs by the time we're at the week of the fight.
You may have to pay quite well for a decent view aswell.

Yeah, warrens cards always look class when announced but so many changes take place right up to fight night.

Its a pity Macklin doesnt have any upcoming fights with hatton promotions. Irish fighter, good standard of boxing and undercard, value for money.

True, Hatton always puts on a great undercard and if someone was to go to the UK for a fightcard not including an irish fighter it's one of his I'd recommend.

However I'd certainly recommend people wait around for more info on McCloskey and Lee's fights to be released before rushing off to buy tickets for fights in England. As reluctant as people may be to believe it we can produce good quality cards in this country and you also have the added bonus of supporting our own fighters.

Would love to go to the Lee fight if it happens.
What would the tickets prices be like and would they sell-out quickly?

Undercards are so sub standard - It's all about the main event when you go to a fight. Ticket could be pricey but if you are going to make the trip, you might aswell invest in a decent seat.

I disagree, I love boxing and when I go to a card I'm there to see every minute of action from the start of the first fight to the end of the last.
People who go to just watch the main event, get just what they deserve when it ends in first round ko.

That's why I generally try and choose to go see cards with very good undercards, it's what makes going to see boxing such a great event. If you're only going to see one fight, and that fight is terrible then you're going to be disappointed.

Look at the Lee card that should be announced soon, do you not think Sweeney vs Tims and Power vs Waldron will be two cracking fights ?
I mean even without Lee getting a great opponent like Gevor, that card will still be worth seeing due to the fact there's at least two fantastic undercard fights.
