    Hey!

Have a Lowe Alpine feather jacket and I'm terrified to wash it!

Any tips for washing it without ruining it?!

    Mercy Buckets! :D

Doesn't it not have a label with washing instructions?
I'd follow that before looking at these sites in case it goes wrong!

Thanks for the links! Some good tips.

Should have mentioned that I have looked at the washing instructions and the only say cool wash. Just standard instructions.

I'm just worried the feathers will clump together and the jacket will be ruined!

My problem after reading the washing instructions and both of these links is...

    I don't have a tumble dryer :(

Should I just go get it dry cleaned?!

    Take it to a launderette!

I have several down jackets and I've washed them all with no problems. They have to be dried in the low setting in a commercial dryer though. Usually takes about 90 minutes. If the down isn't properly dried it tends to settle at the bottom of the jacket in clumps.

tennis balls in the drier on low. stop the down from clumping - assuming it is down and not feathers on the outside....

Oh... a coat with feathers on the outside.... that could be interesting! :D

Thanks a million for all the suggestions guys!

I'm gonna land at a friends house with tennis balls and a jacket that conveniently needs to be washed and dried in a drier which she happens to have!

And a box of chocs of course! ;)

Ye've been a great help! so fingers crossed it all goes to plan!
