PPRI is a fledgling organization set up by ordinary people for ordinary people. We call for serious political reform in the wake of the economic crisis. We want to use the power of the internet to use our collective voice to call for change to lay the political foundations for rebuilding this country. Check out our new page on facebook under "Peoples Political Reform Ireland" where we have outlined the political changes we are calling for. Lend us your support if you like our reforms!!

Do you have anything in common (policy wise) with Amhran Nua? We can't do anything with a load of splinter groups, there will have to be some give and take by people if we want to form a new party that has ordinary people's interests at heart. We could also just force the existing parties to change, by informing them that we are dissatisfied with x, y and z and will be voting for somebody else. We must vote "for the other guy" even if he's just slightly less slimy than the incumbent, then through a gradual iterative process the system cleans itself up as each time a guy is removed, the other guy needs to be that much "cleaner" to get back in.

Slimy corrupt politicians thrive on political apathy from people who say "sure he's just as bad". We need to vote for (for example) FG in numbers and TELL THEM we want them to be squeaky clean, then if they are not, we bring FF back in and tell them the same. Ireland's politics will take a while to be cleaned up because we have not valued our vote and we have a tendency (still) to ignore incompetence and even corruption, IF the local TD secures our swimming pool. This shortsightedness needs to vanish from the electorate, or we will continue to get the corrupt and incompetent government we deserve.

A big question is: Are Irish people collectively smart enough to vote for clean politics? Or will they always be bought cheaply with swimming pools?
